Job Description:

The Institute for Microbial Biotechnology and Metagenomics (IMBM) is a globally competitive institute through excellence in research and in the training of future research leaders, based within the Department of Biotechnology at the University of the Western Cape(UWC). The successful candidate will establish a research program under the mentorship of the SARChI Chair in Microbial Genomics in IMBM, and will contribute to the teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Department of Biotechnology.

Minimum Requirements

  • A MSc in Microbiology or Biotechnology.
  • Registration for a PhD degree (if not obtained already).
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching in microbiology.
  • Experience in microbial (meta)genomics research, with an emphasis on genome-guided biodiscovery.
  • Publication record commensurate with the level of a University Lecturer (at least one first-author publication in an accredited and peer-reviewed international journal).
  • Integration of community engagement with learning and teaching and/or research.

The School of Pharmacy at the University of the Western Cape(UWC) is one of the leading institutions for the education of pharmacists in South Africa and the only Pharmacy school in the Western Cape.The School of Pharmacy intends to appoint an experienced Academic Pharmacist to complement and enhance its teaching and research effort in Pharmacy Practice.

Minimum Requirements:

  • MSc or MPharm in Pharmacy Practice or related field.
  • Practice and/or teaching experience in pharmacy practice.
  • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council as a Pharmacist.
